Having paid a king's ransom to watch some of the most ghastly people in the world kick a ball about, people kid themselves that the team they are cheering for are something more than a motley collection of briefly hired mercenaries who owe allegiance to nothing whatsoever other than their agents and their bank balances!

England star Lampard banned from driving


Lampard: Never turned up for court appearance

England and Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard has been banned for driving at more than 90mph on the A3 in Surrey!
Lampard had admitted speeding in a 50mph zone in his Range Rover at Claygate at a previous hearing, having earlier pleaded not guilty.
Staines magistrates were told the footballer, who was not in court once again, was clocked driving towards London at 91mph in March 2010.
He was banned from driving for 90 days and fined £850. Lampard was also ordered to pay £2,300 costs.
Earlier this month, Arsenal midfielder Alex Song also escaped serious punishment for a driving offence, even though he was caught speeding by police - on a provisional license!
The Cameroon international was pulled over by police for travelling between 50mph and 65mph in a 30mph zone without learner plates on his vehicle even though he does not hold a full UK driving licence.
Police seized his 4x4 as well as his provisional driving licence after he was unable to verify relevant documentation. He was fined just £60!
